Koi Alien Photo 60

Koi Alien Photo 60 appears to show a fetus-like alien, held in the palm of a hand.

This image appears on many UFO websites, usually without any accompanying text. One UFO website has the following caption for this image:

“Then there are some alien babies that really are cute. This cute alien baby was sadly dead when it was discovered in Japan but at least we are all able to take a good look at the little thing through this alien picture. Who knows how it made its way to Earth but thanks to an alien picture it will never be forgotten”.

During 2010, I contacted David Tarn (an English photographer) and he kindly confirmed that the relevant "alien" was made for an illustration in "Sightings" magazine.Tarn responded to my email by stating that: "Ben Philips made the Alien fetus, my brother and myself photographed it, the hands in the shot are either my own or those of my brother, the silicone model most likely is still in a draw somewhere along with the full alien model Ben also made for us.  We illustrated Sighting through its short life as a magazine. We created photographs of Aliens Alien fetus, planets, space craft and other weird and wonderful effects all in a makeshift studio with traditional cameras, techniques and on film" (Email to Isaac Koi dated 22 December 2012). David Tarn also stated that "The original transparencies are in a draw here".

3. The real background to this image

A visitor to one of the websites displaying this image left the following message "Benjamin Phillips : I made the alien fetus in the hand for 'Sightings' Magazine back in 1996. It was photographed by David Tarn".

The same comment was posted by an unnamed individual on another website, followed by another message which stated "It's made of silicone by the way...".

David Tarn also commented as follows:

"There was never any attempt to claim any of the pictures was real and I am amazed that anyone thinks that they are real, discoverd in Japan? Who makes this stuff up?"

Ben Philips has apparently gone on to work on such things as the Harry Potter movies. I hope to hear from him with some further details and his view on the claims made in relation to Koi Alien Photo 60.

5. Further references and resources

There is a rapid turnover of UFO material on the Internet. Many links to material on UFO websites quickly become out of date. Therefore, instead of giving many links to specific webpages I have instead included below a search box which can be used to search various leading UFO websites at the same time. You can then click on tabs at the top of the search results to list only results from forums, only results from websites I have labelled as "skeptical" etc. I have included tabs for a couple of specific websites that I find particularly useful, including the valuable archives of the UFO UpDates email discussion List. The relevant websites are all listed in the discussion of the "UFO Searchillion" search engine in Section 2.4 of the "Free UFO Researcher Starter Pack" and continues to evolve...

The relevant search box is one of the two main tools on this website which are intended to help reduce the amount of reinvention of the wheel within UFOlogy. The other main tool is the collection of tables of references to discussion of UFO incidents, personalities and other matters in various books. Those tables can be sorted by author, length and date. I hope these tools are useful.
