A copy of this video was uploaded to on Youtube  on 27 February 2011 by "Viuomar" with the title "UFO Hiding behind the cloud São Paulo, Brazil 24 Feb 2011"). Text accompanying the video stated "Plasma blast erupts from UFO hiding behind the cloud and then two shining probes come down to the ground. It's if not real, congratulations, cause is very well done and sophisticated!"

They hopped out of the car to shoot the video with their hand-held camera".

The British newspaper "The Daily Maily" published an article about the video on its website on 2 March 2011. That article stated that:

"It doesn't appear to be an aeroplane, balloons don't disappear in a burst of light, and the largest bird able to hover in one place is still too small to be seen from this distance. The city of Sao Paolo is abuzz after amateur footage showing what appears to be an unidentified flying object appeared moving through the clouds.".

3. The real background to this video

This video was a hoax created by Atitude Comunicação, a Brazilian marketing firm, as part of a viral advertisement for Atitude Media Box (the Brazilian partner of German company PizzBoxx) - which sell advertising on pizza boxes.

The relevant Atitude Media Box advert shows a UFO at various locations around the world before the UFO lands and delivers pizzas (in boxes covered in advertising) to a Brazilian family.  The tag line for the video is "an unusual way to deliver your brand anywhere in the world".

The full advertisement includes the "UFO" over Sao Paulo and also shows the driver screeching to a halt to film it.

PizzBoxx's website states:

"Pizzboxx stands for a completely new kind of pizza box, printed with advertising using an offset process and delivered free of charge to the pizzerias. Simply book your campaign with pizzboxx for the desired period and coverage. We coordinate the production, logistics, and distribution. The restaurants and pizza delivery services receive the correct number of boxes free of charge".

PizzBoxx's Twitter account refers to Atitude Media Box as its exclusive partner in Brazil.

The director of advertisement listed in the above credits, Andre Angelico (of Atitude Comunicação, a Brazilian marketing firm), gave an interview to the BrazilToday website in early 2011. In that interview, he admitted that the video was a viral ad was created for a new pizza pack for a packing manufacturer company.  Andre Angelico, besides being the creator and editor of the video, is also heard in it. The driver of car, which dialogues in a tense voice with Angelico was identified as Jonata Evangelista, a co-worker that also helped edit the video.

The BrazilToday article in early 2011 also noted that the video had been analysed by several TV editors, all of whom agreed that the UFO in the video was inserted via computer graphics techniques, and that in three frames (just before the red truck passes by in front of the camera) the cloud appeared empty (i.e. the "UFO" briefly disappeared before the truck passed in front of it).  The BrazilToday article stated that, when confronted with this problem, Angelico stated that it was intentional, “so people would debate whether it was real or not”. Angelico claimed to have received some threatening calls since the release of the video.

Several websites and Youtube users have published material debunking this video, including "Sheilaaliens" in the video below:
