Koi UFO Video 105 :  Unidentified Fairground Objects (Centrifuge Brain Project)

[DEBUNKED] Koi UFO Video 105 is an amusing video appearing to show several highly improbable fairground rides.

One copy of the video on Facebook had over 43,000,000 views as at October 2015.

The video of these Unidentified Fairground Objects ("UFOs") is frequently posted on Facebook, including in UFO discussion groups. Just in case anyone else wondered about its source, I thought I'd mention that this video (which features excellent special effects) is extracted from German filmmaker Till Nowak’s award-winning short mockumentary ‘The Centrifuge Brain Project’. The mockumentary was about experiments with bizarre amusement rides featuring the fictitious Dr. Nick Laslowicz and his Institute for Centrifugal Research.

Okay, maybe this doesn't belong in a list of infamous "UFO" videos and I'll admit that I've had to invent an acronym to justify included it here. But it is a cool video. Besides, other people regularly post videos of balloons and aircraft on "UFO" websites, so why shouldn't I post whatever the heck I like? :)

As with many hoaxed UFO videos, the abridged copy of the video (which does NOT indicate its true nature or give any credit to the film-maker) has MANY more views than the full video that made its origins clearer. Mystery, like sex, sells. (The fact that Till Nowak is not getting proper credit for this video on Facebook is one of my reasons for covering this video in my series of pages about infamous "UFO" videos...).

3. The real background to this video

The footage in this video extracted from German filmmaker Till Nowak’s award-winning short mockumentary "The Centrifuge Brain Project".The mockumentary was about experiments with bizarre amusement rides featuring the fictitious "Dr. Nick Laslowicz" (played by the actor Leslie Barany) and his "Institute for Centrifugal Research".

The (fictitious) rides include the "Spherothon Centrifuge, 1982", the "Wedding Cake, 1985", the "High Altitude Conveyance (HAC), 1991", "The Expander, 1993", the "Dandelion Prenatal Ride, 1996" and the "SPC Steam Pressure Catapult, 2003".

The entire short mockumentary can be found online and is embedded below.

According to Till Nowak's website (Framebox.com), Till Nowak is a "digital artist, designer and filmmaker based in Los Angeles". That website includes details of some of his projects, including this mockumentary.

Till Nowak is photographed below with Leslie Barany (that actor that played "Dr Laslowicz" in the mockumentary).

The dialogue in the mock interviews with Dr. Nick Laslowicz is almost as hiliarious as the "rides" in the video. For example, "Dr Laslowicz" describes, with a dead-pan face, how people would get on the "High Altitude Conveyance" ride without realising that it lasted "14 hours" and would sometimes fall asleep, miss their stop and have to go around for another 14 hours.

"The Centrifuge Brain Project" mockumentary has an associated website. The website of the fictitious "Institute for Centrifugal Research" gives details of "the world's leading research laboratory in the highly specialized field of spinning people around".  That website also gives details of some of the many film-making awards won by the mockumentary. There is also a Facebook page devoted to the mockumentary.
