Koi UFO Video 085: UFO attacks Taliban camp

Koi UFO Video 085 appears to show a triangular craft causing a large explosion, with a tank in the foreground.  It was uploaded to Youtube in May 2014 with a caption stating that it US marines had filmed a mysterious UFO attacking a Taliban cam in the Asadabad District of Afghanistan in March 2014.  Many of the early comments on the video speculated that it should a TR-3B (a secret flying triangle aircraft operated by the US Air Force).

One copy of the video on Youtube has approximately 2.5 million views as at October 2014. The video was the subject of an article by a popular British newspaper, The Daily Mail.

In fact, the "triangular craft" was CGI (Computer Generated Imagery) inserted into footage of an explosion which had been online since 2007, i.e. for about 7 years before the "UFO" event supposedly occurred.  The original footage is embedded below.  Behind the Youtube username that uploaded this "UFO" video (i.e. Section 51) is a small team that describe themselves as "Internet-video creators specialized in dreaming up sci-fi, action YouTube videos, jam-packed with stunning VFX". They offer various incentives for those prepared to provide funding for their projects.  For example, in return for a small fee, they offer to take the video of your choice and "we insert an original UFO on it".

2. Stories and claims relating to this video

It was uploaded to Youtube on 5 May 2014 by a Youtube user with the username "Section 51" (discussed below) with a caption stating that it US marines had filmed a mysterious UFO attacking a Taliban cam in the Asadabad District of Afghanistan in March 2014.  Many of the early comments on the video speculated that it should a TR-3B (a secret flying triangle aircraft operated by the US Air Force). The text accompanying the uploaded video stated:  "Published on May 5, 2014 Afghanistan - March 2014 - A mysterious UFO destroyed Taliban camp, the scene was filmed by US Marines".

A popular British newspaper (The Daily Mail) ran a story about the video. The article was entitled "What is this mysterious aircraft filmed 'blitzing Taliban base in Afghanistan'? Footage shows 'UFO' blasting terrorists' encampment".  That article included in the following : " With Nato forces withdrawing from the badlands of Afghanistan, the country's people need all the help they can get to keep extremists from once again seizing power. But it seems a new intervention has come from an unlikely source... outer space. U.S. Marines captured this incredible footage of what looks like a UFO hovering over a Taliban encampment - then blowing it to kingdom come".

3. The real background to this video

In fact, the "triangular craft" was CGI (Computer Generated Imagery) inserted into footage of an explosion which had been online since 2007, i.e. for about 7 years before the "UFO" event supposedly occurred.  The original footage is embedded below. The original footage was uploaded in October 2007 with the title "US fighter jet destroys car bomb factory in Iraq".

The "UFO" video appears to have flipped the original footage horizontally, presumably to make the original footage slightly more difficult to identify.

The explosion occurs at 40 seconds into the original video. A jet can clearly be heard (and no triangular craft is hovering in the area...).

The original footage of the explosion prompted hundreds of comments since 2007 onwards, mainly about the ethics of American foreign policy and American activities in Iraq. Those comments clearly show that the original footage long predates the "UFO" version of the footage uploaded in May 2014 and predate the supposed date of the "UFO" incident in March 2014.

The original footage appears to have been first identified by "AlphaHawk" (a member of the AboveTopSecret.com discussion forum) in a post on the ATS forum on  6 May 2014, i.e. just one day after the "UFO" footage was uploaded by Youtube user "Section 51".

Those of you that have read over pages in my series about the real stories behind many popular UFO videos will probably not be surprised to hear that:

(1) Many of the discussions about the hoaxed UFO footage (including the discussion in the comments section on Youtube relating to that video) do not refer to the original footage at all;

(2) The relatively small number of discussions that do refer to the original footage do not give credit to "AlphaHawk" for finding that footage on Youtube just one day after the hoaxed footage was posted.

The user that uploaded the hoaxed video to Youtube, i.e. "Section 51", commonly appears on lists of known/probable hoaxers of UFO videos - such as a black list on the amusing "UFO Theater" website a

Behind the Youtube username that uploaded this "UFO" video (i.e. Section 51) is a in fact a small team that describe themselves as "Internet-video creators specialized in dreaming up sci-fi, action YouTube videos, jam-packed with stunning VFX". They offer various incentives for those prepared to provide funding for their science-fiction projects (which include planned movies). The incentives include offering, for a small fee, to take the video of your choice and "we insert an original UFO on it".  So now you know what present to get for the ufologist that has everything!

A considerable number of the members of the military that commentated on the original video suggested that the jet strike probably used JDAM (Joint Direct Attack Munitions) i.e. a guidance kit is a low-cost guidance kit that converts existing unguided free-fall bombs into accurately guided "smart" weapons.
